Based in Vancouver, Canada
Helena Hockertz is a Canadian filmmaker and multidisciplinary media artist born and raised in Taiwan. She moved to Canada for high school, where she discovered her love for cinema, and graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film & Television and a minor in Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology.
Her work spans filmmaking, editing, visual effects, and interactive media, with an interest in how storytelling, performance, and technology can intersect. Through projects using Unreal Engine, motion capture, virtual production, and mixed media, she has explored new ways of combining live performance with digital environments.
Alongside her creative practice, Helena has worked on educational media and international education outreach, and is particularly interested in using creative media to connect with students, educators, and broader communities.
